I first saw Mr Sood for treatment approximately 15 years ago and most recently for a LTKR. Mr Sood has not only given me a new knee but a straight leg for the first time in my life (I have bow legs). I was lucky enough to have my op and my wound check just before lockdown but unfortunately unable to have any face to face physio for the first 3 months after my op. However, almost five months on, my leg is great - Mr Sood has kept in touch to see how I am progressing and the physiotherapist I go to has been brilliant. I am now able to do most of the things I used to do before I had knee problems. Mr Sood is a very pleasant and caring professional and obviously a brilliant surgeon.

Dear Dr Sood I just wanted to give you an update about my recovery. Its been almost a year since my operation. I started playing squash again in March of this year after gaining full extension and flexion. Started playing with restriction and caution and gradually got stronger and more confident. Now I’m playing without any restriction and have good strength and stability in my knee. i have to say the surgery you conducted was quite superb. I had an ACL repair done on my other knee a few years ago and this whole recovery on the knee you carried out surgery on has been so much smoother and easier. I can’t say how grateful i am to have had your expertise to get me back to where I am. I really had my doubts i would be able to get back to a good competitive level at he age of 52, but your brilliance ensured i did. Many many thanks. Kind Regards Farid

4 years ago I cracked my knee cap and the operation to fix it was successful. But 2 years after the knee appeared to collapse due to arthritis then the leg bowed. Walking was so painful and my style of walking was embarrassing. I wore long dresses to disguise my leg. I was recommended Mr Sood as my daily life was so restricted as i could walk for no distance without pain. On our consultation Mr. Sood promised he would give me a new knee and straighten my femur to give me my life back. I had the operation on 28th January 2020 and it was so successful. Both legs look normal are the same length as one was 18mm shorter and the knee pain free. I wear any clothes I like and walk endlessly. Thank you Mr Sood you kept your word i am so grateful and happy.

I broke my knee cap 4 years ago but after 2 years my knee seemed to collapse and t i had do much pain . Arthritis caused alot of this. Also my leg became boed and my right leg was 18 mm shorter so all my shoes had to be raised . I would take a 10 minute walk to the shops and once home i could do nothing else that day. I had to sit with it raised. Managed my meals but couldnt stand for long so did vegetable preparation on a tray in lounge. I had lost my life. I went to fuertenventura for a holiday as the sun was a tonic. Another guest at the hotel asked about my knee as it was so large. He gave me Mr Soods details as he had given both him and his wife new knees which were so successful. On my return to the uk I had a consultation with Mr Sood and he assured me he could replace my knee and straighten my femur so i would walk normal again . Mr Sood kept to his promise. My legs are now the same length. I have a new knee and a straightened femur. I can walk wherever i want and no pain. Unbelievable. I am now doing more excercises to increase my bend so i can ride my bicycle. Mr Sood has given me back my lifestyle i had list Thank you

Profile

Mr Sood is a renowned Hip and Knee Surgeon who deals with all Hip and Knee issues as well as sports injuries. He has been in Specialist Consultant Practice since 2004. He treats all lower limb sports injuries and tendon pain, particularly tendinopathies. He also has considerable expertise in knee arthroscopy, ACL reconstruction, cartilage regeneration procedures, and hip and knee replacement (including revision and complex cases).

He is proud to have been awarded both the Top Doctors Certificate of Excellence for his patient ratings in 2020 and the iWantGreatCare Certificate of Excellence in 2021 for delivering outstanding care. He has also been recognised by his NHS Trust by the award of 3 Clinical Excellence awards

Mr Sood is a firm believer in preserving native joints (joint preservation) by reconstructing joint damage using cartilage regeneration techniques and biological therapies. He is also, however, an expert hip and knee joint replacement surgeon where arthritis is too advance for joint preservation. His data from The National Joint Registry shows that he has excellent patient outcomes and a very low risk of complications.

Mr Sood has excellent communication skills and provides his patients with jargon-free explanations about their problems. He assesses his patients very carefully and organises specialist scans when needed to arrive at an accurate diagnosis. He only works with a very select team of specialist radiologists to ensure high quality scan interpretation. After diagnosis he provides a clear individualised treatment plan to his patients that considers their individual circumstances and their exercise/activity goals. He provides a wide range of treatment choices suited to each patient, including non-surgical options.

His extensive experience allows him to diagnose and treat more rare conditions, and he is often sought out to provide second opinions. In his referral practice, he manages the most complex and challenging cases such as hip and knee replacements that have failed and must be redone. Mr Sood runs a hip and knee unit at Bedfordshire Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust and has earned three Clinical Excellence Awards for his work.

Mr Sood treats all lower limb Sports injuries in athletes and weekend warriors and also has an interest in the treatment of Tendon Pain especially Tendinopathies.

Mr Sood graduated from Guys Hospital in 1992 and went on to train at The Royal National Orthopaedic Hospital (RNOH) where he became Clinical Lecturer to the Professorial Unit. In 2004, he received additional Specialist training in Hip and Knee Surgery at two Centres of Excellence in North America, The Mayo Clinic and Mount Sinai Hospital, where he was mentored by two of the world's best hip and knee surgeons.
